Summer Programs

General Purpose of the Summer Program:

To orient new grade 6 students to the culture and model of MTMS through two weeks of summer programming eg. MTMS routines and procedures, relationships with staff and students, familiarity with the University of Regina, application of key MTMS standards of excellence in a low stakes environment.  Grade 7 and 8 students also have a week out of province  to develop team, learn skills related to being away from home, and are exposed to activities that will enrich the grade 7 and 8 curriculum.


Out of Province Objectives are:

  • Students visit Alberta sites and have experiences connected to the Saskatchewan middle years curriculum.
  • Students given the opportunity to learn travel planning and social skills required for a successful group trip out of province.
  • Students have an opportunity to further bond with each other and MTMS staff and volunteers.
  • Students experience more responsibility and rigor in this level of summer programming as part of the grade 7 experiences.
