The 2019-2020 school year is off to a terrific start for Mother Teresa Middle School students and alumni! The ordinary "first day experience" was transformed and elevated into an extraordinary moment when Middle Years students walked the red carpet on September 3rd like the stars they truly are. The excitement didn't stop there. For the first time, MTMS opened the school year with a Family BBQ that included current and former MTMS students. MTMS Alumni spoke to the middle years students and their families, sharing their stories of transitioning to high school and post-secondary. The Buffalo Boys Drum group and First Nations Dancers shared their gifts of song and dance at the Rainbow Youth BBQ Picnic and after-school sports are in full swing.
As the Graduate Support Team continues to work with high school students to navigate their new routines and schools, two MTMS alumni began their post-secondary journey's at the University of Waterloo. Meanwhile, the Regina Mid Market Team at Great-West Life & Canada Life provided each Grade 6 student with their own backpack filled with school supplies for the year. Grade 7 and 8 students were also generously equipped with their own individual school supply kit thanks to the support of Staples Canada Summer School Supply Drive and Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish .
Currently, MTMS is journeying with 157 students from middle school to post-secondary school, 56 at MTMS, from Grades 6 to 8 and 101 alumni. These are just a few of the powerful moments that have transpired in the last two weeks. Your incredible support to MTMS continues to propel our students to be better prepared to learn and grow every day. Thank you for helping to be the author of so many meaningful and memorable moments that are helping to change the narrative for MTMS students.
