EVERY MINUTE MATTERS. EVERY STUDENT MATTERS. EVERY FUTURE MATTERS.
Mother Teresa Middle School offers a comprehensive and unique learning experience that prepares students for success in high school, post-secondary and beyond. Our academic approach is rooted in today’s best practices for student-centered learning and is designed to develop passionate, lifelong learners.
Student attendance is a critical school benchmark. We aim for 97% attendance annually and work proactively on many fronts to minimize absences.
There are many factors outside the classroom that can impact a student’s ability to learn and thrive. MTMS works to ensure that students and families have all the tools they need to be successful.

Utilizing our strength-based approach to learning, MTMS teaches students how to hone their skills as they discover and cultivate their unique gifts and talents. All students are assessed using Gallup’s StrengthsExplorer. Once strengths are determined, teachers and staff can use this information to engage students in goal setting and proactively apply strengths to their learning. MTMS provides enriched after-school programming, where students can test their emerging talents in a safe and nurturing environment.
EMPOWERING STUDENTS
MTMS offers a wide variety of sports programs, extracurricular activities and community service opportunities.
Involvement in athletics and team sports encourages our students to be active and helps them to develop leadership skills and team work no matter their role on their team. MTMS participates in a number of extra-curricular sports as part of the Regina Catholic School (RCS) league. These include: badminton, basketball, cross country, volleyball, track and field.
The Blues name originated in reference to the blue colour that is synonymous with Mother Teresa Sisters of Charity and the three stripes of blue.
Each student is expected to participate in community service events each year, learn about the social issues surrounding the initiatives they serve, and reflect on their experiences.
Existing partnerships include:
- Eden Care Communities
- MLT Aikins & the Regina Food Bank
- Mother Teresa Engages Community (MTEC), a group of MTMS students guided by Stephen McIntosh who are committed to making a difference in the community through fundraising and volunteering.
The Mother Teresa Middle School Summer Program consists of a Land-Based Learning Retreat and Enrichment Programming. Through the week-long Land-Based Learning Retreat, students have the opportunity to connect with the land, participate in traditional cultural activities, enhance self-esteem, develop leadership skills, and build meaningful relationships.
The Summer Enrichment Programming is provided by MTMS staff, special guests, and volunteers in July and August. Activities in the past have included: hand-drum-making workshops, creating ribbon skirts, swimming, golf, sports days, and much more. These activities provide students with hands-on learning experiences and offer various avenues for enrichment over the summer.
