Getting to Know MTMS
Mother Teresa Middle School (MTMS) believes in small school and class size, as well as, engaging the larger community in its’ work. Families, Elders, artists, musicians, entrepreneurs and other key individuals are a crucial part of the fabric and spirit of the school. Together they are teaching, inspiring and creating proud future leaders with a strong sense of identity. MTMS is an associate school of the Regina Catholic School Division and is tuition-free.
MTMS admits students of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The goal of the admissions process is to determine whether MTMS is the right school for prospective students and their families. MTMS students are supported from Grade 6 until the time they are employed, including high school and post-secondary, a potential 11-plus year commitment.
Admission process begins January 1st for the upcoming academic year.
The admissions process involves the following steps:
- Contact the Director of Student Supports/Graduate Support
- A discovery meeting will be scheduled by phone or in-person
- Student and family will complete and submit the application package
- Once application material is received, a school tour will be arranged and a formal interview will be conducted
- Acceptance letters will be mailed in June for the upcoming academic year
MTMS admits students of any race, colour, gender, or national origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The school does not discriminate on the basis of a disability, if with reasonable accommodations; the student can meet the academic and behavioural requirements of the school. Mother Teresa Middle School is a Catholic Middle School and runs its programs from a Catholic perspective. It accepts students of all faiths who meet the entrance requirements of the school, however, non-Catholic students and their families must agree to support and participate in all school related programs and functions including masses and liturgies.
The registration of a student at Mother Teresa Middle School is deemed to be an agreement on his/her part, and on the part of his/her parents or guardians, to comply fully with all the policies, rules and regulations of the school. Mother Teresa Middle School reserves the right to make revisions to its policies, rules and regulations. Parents and students will be given prompt notifications of such changes or additions. Observance of any such change is expected by all as soon as the change is made known to the school community.
Each family is asked to pay a monthly (11 months) participation fee of $50.00 to contribute to the educational process. The fee will be reviewed annually by the school administration and is due on the 1st of each month. MTMS covers the cost of school clothing, enrichment opportunities, extracurricular activities, summer programming, meals and snacks, school supplies and transportation to and from school.
The “Family Covenant”, is a document produced for each family annually. It outlines the partnership between Mother Teresa Middle School and participating families, describing expectations and responsibilities for each party: the school and the family.
A prospective Mother Teresa Middle School student should meet the following requirements:
- Is a resident of Regina.
- Is entering or matriculating into Grade 6.
- Is supported by a parent/guardian/caregiver/significant adult who is committed to their academic and behavioural success.
- Has demonstrated personal commitment to their academic growth.
- Has demonstrated consistent, positive behaviour that is not harmful to their peers, themselves or their school community.
- Has displayed a past commitment to school attendance.
- At the time of adimssion, the perspecitve family can demonstrate financial need.

How do you choose the students and where will they come from?
MTMS selects students primarily based on two criterias - need and motivation. Students and their families will take part in a clearly defined admissions process and most will come from North Central and Core areas of Regina.
Is MTMS only for Catholic students?
MTMS will admit students who are non-Catholic. Respect is given to all religious denominations, traditional practices and spirituality. Parents and students must understand and accept the fact that the school teaches from a faith-based perspective and all students are required to participate in the teachings and celebrations.
When does the admissions process start?
The process begins in January and is completed by the end of May.
How many students will you take?
MTMS provides small class sizes and will accept a maximum of 20 students per grade.
Will your child be required to participate in the enrichment programs?
Yes, students are required to take part in after-school enrichment programs and summer programming.
Will the students wear uniforms?
Yes, the students will wear uniform dress/spirit wear provided by MTMS.
Will the students pay tuition to go to MTMS?
MTMS is not a tuition based school, however families are asked to contribute a nominal monthly fee towards their child’s education.
