Mother Teresa Middle School is honoured to be a charity recipient of the 2025 Royal Road Race taking place on Saturday, May 10th. Since 2011, the Royal Road Race has raised awareness and more than $300,000 for local charities in Regina. Hosted annually at the RCMP Depot, the race includes approximately 800 runners and volunteers, featuring multiple race categories, including 5k and 10k races, a 5k walk, a 5k wheelchair event, and a 1k Mini-Mountie run for children.
ON YOUR MARKS…
Ted Jaleta, organizer of the event and founder of the Jaleta Pacers running group, emphasized the importance of giving back to the community. “Every year, we choose recipients who are making a difference in the community. Food insecurity is always top of mind. I understand that if a child doesn’t have a meal, they aren’t thinking about education—they’re thinking about when their next meal will come,” Jaleta said.
Proceeds to MTMS will go toward the MTMS Nutrition Program, which provides two meals and snacks each school day, ensuring that students stay nourished and can focus on learning. Participants can also make direct donations or sponsor MTMS students to run in the race.
“In running, like in life, there are no shortcuts. If you want to achieve your goal and are motivated to put in the work, you can accomplish what you set out to do.” – Ted Jaleta

Jaleta also hopes to encourage MTMS students to participate in the race, highlighting the benefits that running can offer. “In running, like in life, there are no shortcuts. If you want to achieve your goal and are motivated to put in the work, you can accomplish what you set out to do.”
He plans to come back to the school to train with a group of students in the lead-up to the race. “I can see how much the people here care for the children, they are our future generation, it’s important that we support them and give back.”
